with the proliferation of sock puppets on this site I am not sure if this is the same person or another chuck indentity. But have been impressed with your close questioning of Dr. Kang and your appreciation for the chronic pain risks of the various tissue repairs. Uh oh/no name have you made a decision regarding your repair? You were considering Lichtenstien as I recall due to all the tissue disruption from shouldice-kang etc. Is there a doctor you favor for lichtenstien? Chen seems to be the favorite. I called his office and they said come in next april and referred me to Todd Harris if I could not wait. Wondering if there is another go to doc for lichentenstien?

I’ve only recently discovered this troll and connecting the dots between different places. He was recently posting similar stuff as Jaredgofframs16 on Reddit (posts finally removed by mods) and “Mark Price” on Facebook (now banned). If I see him pop up again either place with more of his crap, I will report to mods.

“…or the german surgeons for shouldice. Then you just down shift your life to walking and water aerobics.”

    LOL – what utter nonsense.

Uh oh No-name – I agree docs push lap very hard now. Its because of the $$$$. In my opinion the surgery with worst way to go. But lap surgeons get bigger money and the chance to scam you with a bilateral repair—where there is no hernia on the other side. I would be curious to hear about your findings regarding open mesh surgery–British hernia centre and Dr. Chen seem to have the best reps for this. But mesh is so darn risky –even if its placed correctly initially —it can shift move shrink degrade years later. I have spoken to many who were fine for 5 years or even 10 then the mesh went horribly bad and they lay in bed all day. REinhorn gets great reviews and his techinque is interesting. But it still uses a big ass piece of mesh. It seems to me that the best way to go is either kang –though the recent kody post is a little disheartening…or the german surgeons for shouldice. Then you just down shift your life to walking and water aerobics.

Dr. Reinhorn discusses his technique in a webinar available here (https://aischannel.com/live-surgery/improving-outcomes-in-routine-hernia-repair-2) It’s necessary to register with the channel but there is no charge. The whole set of talks is very informative.

Sorry, hadn’t looked on here for a bit… No definitive decision yet. I’m trying to learn more about the method Dr. Reinhorn uses (open, pre peritoneal) and if anyone in the Chicago area does it. Also trying to learn which open mesh methods require the least cutting/sewing, as I’m learning not all are equal.

The other thing I’m finding is that there are fewer and fewer specialist surgeons that still favor open (vs. lap), much as it’s become nearly impossible to find surgeons who do mesh free repairs.
