Seeking input for hernia surgery in Minnesota
Just recently diagnosed with an inguinal hernia on my right side and am now doing research to find the best surgeon possible in my area. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Based on the searching I’ve done here, there doesn’t appear to be a hernia specialist in my state. However, I’ve seen a couple referrals to Dr. Archana Ramaswamy as well as Dr. Chad Robbins. Both of which Dr. Towfigh mentioned.
I currently have a consult set up with Dr. Kevin Ose (https://www.healthpartners.com/care/find/practitioner-detail.html?locationId=35606&practitionerId=12155) and found him on a few top doctor lists from our local magazines (MinnesotaMonthly and MSPmag). Based on his online reviews he seems reputable, but I have no information on his approach to hernia repair.
I’d like to arm myself with some questions for our consult. I’m specifically hoping that this surgeon can run me through the type of mesh (assuming he operates that way) he uses and what his post-op observations have been with his patients. I know that many folks have had no issues with mesh, but given the track-record, my main concerns really are around putting a foreign body into mine. I’m not as concerned about the operation itself.
Any info on MN-based surgeons or any things I should be thinking about and asking when I have my time with the doctor would be helpful.
