What prevents an inguinal hernia from healing
Here is something I never quite understood: why does the muscle tissue not get repaired as it normally does in other muscles? At one point I understood it with the idea that the hernia protrudes and blocks the repairing from occurring…but I was reading that the say inguinal muscles are layered loosely and that more than a “hole” what happens is that the hernia sac slides through the weakened layers? Is this the correct idea behind the need of strengthening the muscle wall?
So the muscle does not heal because it is in fact several layers of muscle that are affected at the same time? -

It’s not a tear in muscle, like an athletic strain. It’s an enlargement of an already existing hole. Also, when the muscle tears, it can scar down and heal. Not so much when fascia tears.
