The general surgeon I spoke to who seems to have a lot of experience with hernia repair said he’s used the Phasix ST twice so far, and he’s on a sample basis right now. This was in regard to an umbilical hernia consulation.

Doesn’t his report “using 4 runs” imply 4 layers of suture?
How is your right side feeling now in 2025? You said you had lingering, almost daily pain there after the surgery….

How is your umbilical repair holding up now that its past a year? I know you said “pea size”, did they give you an actual measurement?

If you have family in Ohio, Dr. Grischkan has his own surgery center where he specializes in non-mesh repair of various hernia types. I’ve been researching him myself for an umbilical hernia, although it seems like the mesh is not as much of an issue for umbilical as it is for inguinal so I’m still kinda 50/50 on whether or not to go with the open/mesh repair with a local surgeon.

I’m skeptical of the mesh, is the reoccurrence rates much different for sutures if I go to one of these specialty hernia places that does hernia repair surgery every-day?
