But your question made me think..why from inside you can’t fix as durable as from outside ?

Dear Doctor drtowfigh please let us know if it possibly very accurate {according to video} to remove mesh with robot ..why you can’t reliably to perform ROBOTIC no mesh surgery ….i assume once doctor remove mesh {on video } they must stitch everything together without mesh anyway?

After a open non-mesh hernia repair the patient can expect to need pain pills for 2 to 3 days. Then switch over to Advil or Tylenol. Ice packs are very helpful. Compression shorts can also be very helpful. The patient can do all of his daily activities including lifting 25 pounds, driving a car, going upstairs, sex, and long walks. At three weeks the patient will have 70% of the final strength. At that point in time it is safe to start aerobic exercises. At six weeks the patient will have 90% of the final strength. And at that point in time can slowly return to sports.
I hope that the above is helpful.
Regards.

read below my friend
.
Dave GrahamThis is a very difficult question to answer as each surgeon that works on inguinal hernias would answer it differently.
Also clearly every patient is different and every patient’s anatomy is unique. For me and my patients, after 8 weeks I expect that histologically the hernia is completely repaired and there should be no further disability associated with this problem. Therefore, there should be no restrictions after 8 weeks of recovery from an inguinal hernia repair.

MemberDecember 1, 2018 at 9:51 am in reply to: Non mesh West Coast Surgeon recommendations for small recurrent inguinal herniasquote Momof4:Dr. Shirin Towfigh, that started this forum, offers a no mesh robotic repair to a select group of patients that will do well with this type of repair. Not sure who qualifies, but certainly worth calling her office to get some information. She has been so helpful to me and is the most in depth hernia surgeon that I have been to and I have been to many of the top specialists! Dr. Andrew Wright is in Seattle. I know he is a hernia expert but don’t know specifics about his repairs. Wouldn’t hurt to call his office as well. Best wishes in finding the best repair for you that lets you live your active life pain free. I am still on that journey!Dear Dr. Shirin Towfigh, drtowfigh Please let me know what advantages to mesh robotic repair ..against open one ?… Is it more save or faster recovery.? .more durable..less recurrence

I like to deal with issues scientifically and with an open mind.I do not support abstinence from mesh repair at this time. That’s technically not possible. We do need better technology and some companies have a mission to develop them.
Dear
drtowfigh … Just wondering how technically was it possible before mesh was invented ? ..Term.” groin pain ” complication after hernia repair has become almost common from the time of that great invention… -

MemberNovember 30, 2018 at 8:36 pm in reply to: Paper: "Why we remove [hernia] mesh" by Dr Shirin Towfighquote drtowfigh:It’s been a busy month or so…Correct, this paper was not intended to be paper about postoperative outcomes, rather of preoperative workup and indications for mesh removal. One goal was to share our experience with the relative incidences of the various indications for mesh removal, with insight into whether specific types of repairs, mesh, techniques, or other clinical factors stand out among them. Also, in doing so, we were shocked to see a trend toward more patients requiring mesh removal after laparoscopic repairs and also more patients showing up with systemic mesh reactions.
We will followup wirh an outcomes paper soon.
Thank you dear dr drtowfigh for coming the right side of the battle..Would you consider to start petition to stop using mesh in the hernia repair..we all will support you! ..Myself i have a thousands followers :} Get media attention …..
