Schools a no go as automotive parts and such are just too heavy…now my pain is a scratching pinching over the incisions…dr appointment for the 20th of this month….this sucks so bad as i cant really lift more than 5 or so pounds without pain….
-
I am really thinking it is just a really bad strain overall.

Yes I’d do it again if needed.Right now IAM pretty busy with school. Then after that more school then work. When I get time here (school vacation) ill post about my hernia symptoms.
-
The worst part is for 3 days after it burns pretty good when I urinated cause your urethra is raw at the end of the opening from the scope. But better a burn for a few days than not getting it done and possibly having a disease develop.

quote Lucky46:So now a follow up with a urologist.
Saw a urologist 3 weeks ago. He did a cytoscopy. My experience was good. Most men are affraid to get it done.I was a little nervous but it wasn’t too bad. The nurse pours an iodine solution on my penis then shoots a gooey lube numbing solution down my urethra.
20 minutes later the doctor comes in with two medical students who observe and one nurse. He then slides the scope down my urethra which I don’t feel.Just pressure as it goes into the prostate bladder.
My prostate was irritated but that’s all.A week dose of Prednisone clears it up.

I’ll post my lab results later.Tired, just spent 14 hours in the hospital. But…a very clean bill of health. I had a cat scan along with blood work and urine tests.
It showed I had a few prostate stones(calcification).Upon further research I found that they can cause UTI symptoms exactly like I have.
My prostate is 4.5cm in diameter.I did state that I have mesh. The cat scan technician stated my hernia areas looked normal from what he could tell.

quote lbpd16:I came across Dr. Tomas Ufirst Health website in another post. He does the Desarda repair. Any experiences or opinions on the Desarda repair or Dr. Tomas? The more I read around here the more I want to avoid any mesh repair.
I know 3 people who have had tissue repair by Dr. Tomas. All 3 are doing great no issues. And I know 2 people who have had mesh removal with no issues. Dr. Tomas doesn’t automatically cut any nerves. No neurectomy unless absolutely necessary. He has videos on YouTube.
He removed 90% of mesh on both. I have talked to Dr. Tomas multiple times on the phone. He will be who I have remove my mesh when the time comes. Also, he is very reasonable as far as costs go as well.

When it rains it pours.I am in the process of moving. My trip to FastMed Urgent care was a waste. A week later I didn’t receive a call back about the urine culture.
When I called they said they forgot. Great. So, I still have a burning when the bladder fills up.But no burning while urinating. No excessive urinating,no cloudy, bloody urine or smelly urine.
Some days are better than others. But since I am having hernia recurrence symptoms(tightness mainly time to time) I can’t help but think mesh/hernias are to blame.
So I will get to the ER this Friday since my appointment with my PCP is two months away which is just a general check up anyway.
My BP,resting heart rate,BMI, and everything else is good to pass a DOT physical for my CDL.
I’ll update when I know.
My question: Is it a possibility that the mesh has eroded into the bladder? I have read multiple stories of it happening but how realistic is it?
Thanks

MemberMay 29, 2018 at 5:42 am in reply to: Do we have a trustworthy hernia specialist in Florida YET?[QUOTE=aminuts;n7553]Sorry I haven’t gotten back! Thank you for your suggestions. I was doing well again, but symptoms back! A lot of tear and ripping when bending, getting up, and after bathroom. I did have a UTI 3 weeks ago. First time ever thought it was a kidney stone pain was so bad. Lifted and pushed a chaise lounge and hopefully this is just a strain. Although symptoms feel much like before. Mostly on right side at the end of my c-section scar and I do feel a bulge. Also to the right of my umbilical cord where it feels food hangs up.
Not a fan of MRI. I do not want to go through two and a half years undiagnosed.
So… where should I go? Obgyn, hernia specialist? Hope to here back soonsoExcellent advice from the above posters. I’ve come to the conclusion that the hernia specialist to see…are only the ones listed on this forum with the exception of the fellow in NV. They are what I call true specialist. So far all the specialist I’ve talked to in my town and Phoenix are not specialist. As soon as I mention mesh these so called specialist say they are not qualified to even open me up to look as mesh is too complicated and dangerous to even mess with.
So I’ve come to the conclusion that I must see Dr. Towfigh or another real hernia doctor on this board. If not, I will be given the run around and never get anywhere and worse. It also means disrupting my life as having to travel out of state is beyond acceptable to most of us. It costs money most of us do not have. But is necessary if I want this nightmare to end.
It is criminal what these so called doctors have done. A fix that is ment to be permanent but is not. My years of research have shown regardless of the method used to repair the hernia…..is just a bandaid. And how long that bandaid lasts is anyones guess. The small percentage that mesh is supposed have over tissue repair is not worth it.
At least if a tissue repair comes undone you don’t have mesh possibly going to make you sick or torture you until it is out.Sorry for the rambling but none of us should have to go through any of this. Mesh is installed… problems arise….we are told..” It’s in your head,it can’t be the mesh. And it’s not my problem, bye.”
My option if I was you. See one of the real hernia specialist. As you’ve already experienced the run around for 2 and a half years. My life is ruined. Now I have to re do everything different just to be able to afford a real doctor to fix this. My plans for school have now changed as well.
Take care best of luck.

Just got back. No UTI. Prostate good as well. Doctor said could be from not enough water intake. Which has been the case with me. So I’ll drink more and cut back on the caffeine.

Scratch this thread. I am going across the street from me to an urgent care clinic for the so called bladder issue.Just a waste of time trying to get anywhere at a hospital for hernia issues. I know what needs to be done. And I WILL get it. Thanks anyway.

I am to attend/finish school this fall. But I need to at least see if possible where my mesh is at. If not I will keep going to school and try and work with this. Medicaid will be taken away when I start school…..even as poor as I am….lol.

Sorry about all the small posts… anything more it flags it as spam.

Intial pain started 6 months ago….and still remains here and there as stated above. Enough to know either the mesh might be damaged or just a really bad strain or new hernias or possibly a combination.
I have state,Medicaid insurance. Can’t afford any other kind at the moment. If…..if I can finish school and work without this killing me I can afford an insurance Dr. Towfigh accepts.

I believe I have recurrence. Pins and needles from the incisions to the feet, sharp pain from incisions to knee areas, once in a great while sharp pain in testicles. But I know these could be regular symptoms due to the nature of the beast. I did strain my hernias a couple of weeks ago from carrying too much from the store.Still strained.
Bladder type pain started 3 days ago.

quote Good intentions:It would probably help you to re-summarize your problem. You have 34 posts to look back through, plus things might have changed since you originally posted, like your bladder problems. I can’t remember if you have a confirmed recurrence or if you think that you might have a recurrence.
Good luck.
Great….I just posted a long reply.Noticed it had wrong spelling and went to correct it.When I did it said it was flagged as spam. I’ll try again when I can.

It’s been 6 months since I strained my inguinal hernias and the symptoms that still remain are the pins and needles from the waist down, sharp pains here and there in the incision areas and to the knee, once in awhile shap testicle pain(but more and more rarely now).
The bladder type pain started 3 days ago.For the past two weeks though I’ve strained my inguinal hernias from carrying too much from the store that’s across the street from me. Not bad but somewhat heavy. At least enough to strain(lower abdomen strain like a pulled muscle that goes to the incision then stops)
So maybe it’s some kind of a strain overall. No, I haven’t been able to find a PCP yet. There’s either a waiting list or I’ve been told to see a specialist.
I believe I have a hernia recurrence. At the moment I have state insurance (Medicaid) and can’t afford any other type of insurance.

Also, does anyone else here live in Tucson AZ? I don’t have transportation so I am stuck with local doctors. All they tell me here is that I need to see a hernia specialist such as Dr. Towfigh just to even see what’s wrong.

quote SomeGreyBIoke:Yes Lucky, same thing. I’m OK when I am lying down, as soon as I start walking, tingling returns. I also am getting pains all down to my foot. It must be hernia related as never had this problem before. I’m going to see my doctor tomorrow, will discuss it with him
Best of luck to you on your outcome.
