I had a ultrasound standing bearing down. I ended up calling several ultrasound places that mostly did ultrasounds for viewing newborns for “viewing parties” I didnt have any kind of referral or anything. They were more then willing to do it. It was around $200 dollars. My family doctor acted ignorant when I asked for it and said I needed to go to a specialist.

Did you ever discuss the possibility of having some type of disc problem in your lower back that would cause some of the symptoms you describe. Not the bulge you have seen though.

I know nothing about the practice. Look at http://www.bostonhernia.com they offer Shouldice repair. That might be as close as you can get.

If you quit smoking theres a decent chance youll gain wait depending on your level of activity right now. Thats probably just as bad as smoking in terms of a hernia reoccurring.

    quote LeviProcter:

Probably a cord lipoma in your inguinal canal.

I can review your CT imaging if you wanted to send it to me. Many surgeons and radiologists don’t appreciate true cord lipomas as being akin to a hernia on CT.

Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it. Im currently waiting to hear back from bestdoctors as they just got all my information and are going to review it.

I was initially diagnosed about 2 years ago with a inguinal hernia. Ive been waiting but I dont have a bulge and the surgeon I saw was not 100% certain it was in fact a hernia and he would consider the surgery exploratory. He mentioned my risk level was the same as everyone else walking down the street. When the words exploratory were mentioned to me that meant wait until its gets worse. I have continued to research other surgeons as I do have sensations in that area that I wish I didnt.

If it ever restricts my activity though Id be quick to go in.

I would suggest putting together a long list of questions for the surgeon and make a decision after your next appt. If you dont like the answers delay and go to another surgeon

Thanks Ill see what I can find in the Boston area which is about 2.5 hours away. Unfortunately theres not much in my immediate area for specialists. If anyone has any recommendations for hernia specialists in the Boston area they would be appreciated.
