Laparoscopic is only done with mesh, you will need open for no mesh. If you contact surgeons in your local area, just ask if they do open no-mesh. My local surgeon offered it, although I chose to go with laparoscopic. Find out all you can about the years of experience the surgeon has doing that type of surgery.

There’s no “best”, and a consensus on an online forum is useless. You can find stories of people with chronic pain in both mesh and non-mesh, and forums attract people with surgery issues more than the majority who had no issues. I really believe there are other factors that have way more impact on whether you will have pain: surgeon experience and skill, your own caution during recovery period, not having high BMI, and not being a smoker. Age under 40 also has higher risk of pain. A lot of the post-surgery pain postings I see were because the surgeon botched it, it was done long ago before techniques improved, or they messed up the surgery by lifting too soon.

I don’t know the answer but I don’t necessarily trust posted recurrence rates if it’s not independently reviewed. I would just assume there is a chance of recurrence and be sure you are ok with what that entails. And don’t place too much belief in a few posts on a forum.

If you’ve been using marijuana on a regular basis, it’s important to tell the anesthesiologist as you may need more anesthesia than usual. Unless you want to risk waking up during surgery.

I’ve only recently discovered this troll and connecting the dots between different places. He was recently posting similar stuff as Jaredgofframs16 on Reddit (posts finally removed by mods) and “Mark Price” on Facebook (now banned). If I see him pop up again either place with more of his crap, I will report to mods.

I looked this Shark Tank over briefly. It looks like a great program. Providing funding for stimulating innovation in surgery? Who wouldn’t want that. If a company makes bad products and doesn’t care about patients, that’s another issue and I’d think would lead to that companies demise as surgeon’s catch on, and patients sue them.
