Usually, it’s just a pulling on the repair. Like wearing a shirt that’s too tight and the buttons are straining. If there is repetitive pressure, then it will eventually tear to the point of a hernia recurrence. That’s not the typical scenario fortunately.

thanks you doc 🙂 sorry last question … do u feel like there has been advances in the last 10 years in the repair and treatment of hernia ?

are you saying you’ve had to put pressure on the area every single time you have to use the bathroom, for 10 years, or just since this flare up?

hey , well i remember at the time after the surgery happened the doctors did say to put pressure on the area when i needed to go and since then when ever i’ve felt tender i do it , but to be fair it seems to be what i just do now all the time as a precaution kinda safe rather than sorry approach

i truly appreciate your words definitely no where near as bad today as yesterday thankfully , i take it that the heavy coughing is making the area inflamed or is just causing a strain there ?

its was actually a double inguinal hernia on both sides, didnt even know i had the 2nd one at all until i was told by the specialist,, i always have to put pressure on the area when going to the bathroom, the discomfort has always been from the right side , it has actually calmed a little since the 1st post had an ice pack on for a bit ….. i’ve read people usually tend to have a 2nd operation at some stage which this type ?!! is that often the cause ?
