    Thank you for sharing this. I had both my left and right inguinal hernia repairs at the UCLA Lichtenstein Hernia Clinic in 2016 where Dr. Chen teaches. When he said “we do bad things all the time but fortunately the human body is forgiving” it sorta shows what a mess this procedure is.

    How long did you wait?

    My original plan was to hold for a year or two. My inguinal hernia was very small (no bulge) and it wasn’t causing me any discomfort, so my surgeon said watchful waiting would be fine. But I ultimately changed my mind and had the surgery done just a few months later, as fear of making the hernia worse was holding me back in the gym and I just wanted to get it over with. And I’m very glad I did.

    Thanks for the responses. Happy to say the burning sensation is pretty much gone now and I’m able to move around pain-free. And Dr. Towfigh, that actually make a lot of sense, and interestingly enough, the pain started to decline the day I did some slight stretching of the area.
