Dr. Towfigh’s new survey

If you’re like me you barely look at the Topics in the yellow bar at the top of the page because they change so slowly and it’s usually a Youtube HerniaTalk announcement. But there’s a new one up there. I started through it and got to Question #8. The choices seem odd. What could be the purpose of leaving pain or discomfort as “Other”? What could the purpose be of the survey? “Experience with your implant”, but no way to describe pain or discomfort?

Also odd that you can say “No” to “Reaction” and still be able to fill out more questions. It should end right there.

The purpose of the survey is to quantify ASIA/Mesh Implant Illness symptoms. It is not meant to quantify other mesh-related complications.

Thanks for the reply Dr. Towfigh. I’m just trying to keep track of, and understand, what is going on in the field of hernia repair. Progress seems to have stalled dramatically.

If the goal is to learn about ASIA/Mesh Implant Illness then a description in the introduction of the survey would be appropriate. I see though that you have now added “Pain” as a category. So, kind of getting a mixed message.
