    So not only do the British hernia centre and Oxford hernia surgery favour open but in addition I gave just spoken to a doctor about another matter and during the conversation he told me his dad had 2 hernia repairs. One open which is fine. And another Keyhole which is troublesome and will need revision or a second repair.

    Could all be anecdotal but does seem, to me, that open is a better option.

    The hard bacon with nerves pictures that I saw were from Lichtenstein.

    Watchful, that’s not Lichtenstein. That’s plug and patch. Different procedure.

    They all have potential issues. The pictures of Lichtenstein mesh turning into hard bacon with nerves and other structures attached are not something that’s easily forgotten. Those are the pictures shown by Brown, Muschaweck, and other mesh removal surgeons.
