Here is the final advance program for SAGES 2021 in Las Vegas, this August. I pulled out a few excerpts, below. Use CTRL F to search for words like mesh or hernia and you can find titles, and names. There are some names missing that would usually be there, but, of course, the COVID-19 pandemic is still in full force.

Mesh is still a topic, and, at least, the possibility of not using it is being discussed.

The list of exhibitors is at the end of the document.

      “3:00 PM Introduction
3:02 PM Pediatric Hernias – No Mesh Required…”

“3:00 PM – 5:00 PM Masters Hernia: Inguinal Hernia through the Years, from Infants through Adolescence to Adulthood….
3:45 PM Inguinal Hernia Repair in Adolescent – What is the Best Way to Repair?
4:05 PM Laparoscopic vs Open vs Robotic in Adult Hernia Repair
4:25 PM Mesh or No Mesh for Adult Inguinal Hernia Repair..”

“4:00 PM – 5:00 PM SAGES/AHS: Mesh Past, Present, and Future
The use of mesh has become commonplace in hernia repairs and while advances have improved the types of mesh available, the variety of available products has added complexity to the process of mesh selection. The session will review available mesh products and some of the science behind mesh types and factors involved in the mesh selection process.”

      Dear Good Intentions.
We can hope that non mesh repairs will become the standard of care again soon.
