Youtube video about the Lichtenstein repair by Dr. David Chen

[Good intentions]

He has some interesting comments about the original Lichtenstein repair method publication and describes how things have changed. Kind of implying that there is “old Lichtenstein” and new Lichtenstein. If I was planning a Lichtenstein repair I would try to get a surgeon recommendation from Dr. Chen to make sure that they were up to speed on the latest and greatest.

Also interesting that he implies that all meshes are the same. He refers back to the Guidelines for that comment. Any “large pore mesh” is “adequate”. He doesn’t offer his own opinion, just refers to HerniaSurge (which doesn’t really exist as an entity anymore). Mesh type is at 9:20.
