So also in the muschaweck the cremaster muscle is used to close the hole?

Thanks for your answer! So what is the difference between the two? It seems the mushaweck is marketed as a less invasive procedure with a very quick return to physical activity! Does it also require the use and loss of a particular muscle? Thanks again!

Ps: does an history of back pain warrant a specific procedure more than an other? This is a bit off topic more of a general question

Thanks for your answer! I fear the hernia is already there although the bulge is barely visible…btw the smaller the bulge the smaller the hernia or am I getting it wrong?

BTW by “suture only” I meant the one procedure that is normally reserved for children, i.e. no mesh and no wall reconstruction/reinforcement….just suturing together the hole…can this procedure also be done laparoscopic, or is this an open procedure only? (thanks and sorry for the many questions)

Did you have a mesh repair in the end? what went wrong if I may ask?

Another reason I am thinking to wait is that in say another 5 to 7 years things might have improved enough to offset the (at the moment high) risk for complications…also I am 49 and going towards 60 I might have less expectations with regard to being able to have a very physically active life (at the moment I am still kicking with martial arts…which may have caused the problem, go figure)

Thanks a lot for your answer! Is this option one that should be discussed first, or is it really up to the surgeon to bring it forward if at all? (I guess this very much depends on the surgeon/country etc)
