    Hi Lucky46
its not rambling! Sometimes it helps just to get it out. Your one hundred percent right! Hopefully if more of us speak up and get it out there, others won’t have to suffer as we did. Unfortunately, I think most of the focus needs to begin with the radiologist reading the reports!! Most doctors now a days just read the report. It’s not like the old days where they would look at the images and you have 4 eyes making a decision.
I hope you feel better, I just want to tell you Dr Towfigh is your doctor if you can make the trip. She is the best!!!! You will be in the best hands and she will know what to do.
if this becomes the run around and even if they make a suggestion, you can best believe I will be sending my images to her for a second opinion. I was told nothing wrong and she found 4 hernias!!!
SEE DR TOWFIGH SHE CAN HELP YOU

    Good luck

Sorry I haven’t gotten back! Thank you for your suggestions. I was doing well again, but symptoms back! A lot of tear and ripping when bending, getting up, and after bathroom. I did have a UTI 3 weeks ago. First time ever thought it was a kidney stone pain was so bad. Lifted and pushed a chaise lounge and hopefully this is just a strain. Although symptoms feel much like before. Mostly on right side at the end of my c-section scar and I do feel a bulge. Also to the right of my umbilical cord where it feels food hangs up.
Not a fan of MRI. I do not want to go through two and a half years undiagnosed.
So… where should I go? Obgyn, hernia specialist? Hope to here back soon.
    thanks

Have I messed up my hernia surgery?

Thank you all! Was not aware you put mesh on left to prevent hernia. Good to know won’t be so nervous about getting a hernia. Sorry for the nagging but you have know idea what I went through and I just do t want to go there again.

Maybe I overdue and stop than feel good and start again instead of keeping on. Maybe a lil arthritis flares up and inflammation pushes on area and mimics the old symptoms I had. It does seem to bounce back and forth more left which surprises me as I only had one there and I jumped the gun. Plain old age and time to get back thinking and feeling I’m 30 again! I will see how week goes and if still bothersome than I will have her order MRI.
Thanks again I promise I won’t bother you all with my ridiculousness (I will try).

P.s was the app ever developed Dr Towfigh?

Have I messed up my hernia surgery?

This is a quick question for dr Towfigh. I do t know if you still have old scans, but could I have had a small weak area on left that we missed or developed. I’m seeing my obgyn next Friday for my annual. If still bothering me I will see if it’s possibly a fibroid cyst.

    Thanks Kathy

Have I messed up my hernia surgery?

Im almost embarrassed to ask but I do not want to go through second guessing myself again.

I have been great for 8 months! Knee pain is gone and wondering if it’s cause I’ve been walking to protect left side.

The burning and dull ache on left feels much like I had before. If I’m doing any form of exercise, sitting, standing I have to lay down and wait for a bit. I have been getting crampy this week like a period (which I don’t have anymore ) I find myself holding the groin area by my thigh. Slight swelling on pubic area when it’s really bothering me. I feel a slight lump(could it be lymph node) tender to touch. When I lay down I feel slightly but more flat. the right side gets burning sl sometimes but goes away so I’m assuming still the two hernias healing and adjusting.

I was doing so great, so why acting up now? Is it because I had three? Could I be getting a femoral on left now?

I continue taking milk of magnesium nightly so I don’t get constipated and get them back! Could it be to much pressure going to the bathroom?

I’m tired of being a pain but just got my life back and this feels so much like before!

    Thanks crazy Kathy

    Hidden Hernia questions from Ohio

    Hi Tricia
I hope you don’t mind me chiming in! I am not a doctor but a patient who was where you are now. I’m glad you found this forum sooner than I did.
Firstly, Let me say don’t give up listen to your body! Nobody knows it Better than you.
I was where you are now and for two and a half years I had many radiologic test, and many doctors finding nothing and telling me nothing wrong and to go to pain management. I didn’t give up I knew something was wrong and I found this forum. Dr Towfigh read my post as she did yours and the best thing I did was send all my reports and radiologic test I to her online consultation!!
She has learned to read the scans because of all the false reports and YES she found not one but three hernias. Bilateral inguinal and a right femoral hernia. She recommended doctors near me to do the surgery with advice. Because of her expertise and the trust I found in her I wanted her to do the surgery. In August of 2015 I flew to California had the surgery flew home the next day and I’m happy to say I have my life back.
Hence if you cannot get a diagnose it is well worth her online consultation.
Good luck and I hope you are better soon!
Sorry so lengthy, but I wanted you to know she can be trusted to help with your diagnose if you truly have a hernia!

Yes chime in anytime. That’s what this forum is for. I do as well it helps everybody that might be having similar symptoms.
You make valid points that I have thought of as well! Not moving for two and a half years is a long time. My body is in shock (haha at 54 years old). I certainly made adjustments and walked differently during that time as well as now with aches and pains. I welcome them I know I’m using muscles I haven’t in a long time.
I never knew the body could repair a tear if that’s the case, so I thank you for that and it sounds very probable.
The last three days, it has been similar with the burning and stretching especially when bending and lifting that’s why I posted don’t want to go there again. I was afraid that I started another hernia since I am not
Back to a strong healthy core.
As far as the therapy, no I’m just going for two or three visits to ensure I’m doing correctly and getting the best exercises to do at home to strengthen.
Thanks for the information and encouragement.
Never apologize, may help others especially females! Most doctors assume women cannot get hernias and we need to get the word out!! Thanks again!

Also thank you Dr Earle for your input as well.

top hernia doctors in georgia or tn

I am too from Florida and suffered two and a half years until I found this forum and Dr Towfigh. She recomended dr Bradshaw who at the time was in Daytona and was very good. He was in the process of
Moving to Tennessee and I had suffered for 2 and a half years and couldn’t wait for there transfer to take about 3 months. I flew to California where dr Towfigh repaired a bilateral inguinal and right femoral hernia and gave me my life back. We are in desperate need of a dr with there expertise here in Florida .
I do recommend dr Bradshaw in Tennessee if you can’t make the trip to California. This is from a patients point of view he was great to me as well. Good luck and make sure you get a doctor that has the knowledge and expertise.

Survey! Re: Consultations with your Surgeon

I think this would be an excellent source of information. In disgusting with the surgeon it would allow to go over and rebuttal any questions or concerns. We all know what we want to ask but when your in the moment lots of things are forgotten or you really don’t hear. First, I think the anatomy would
Be great. During the investigation of my symptoms there were very few anatomy pictures for females. I think it will help a lot to show locations with descriptions for the layman. Second, I think it should incorporate sections that help with self diagnosing so that your headed to the right physician and lesson unnecessary surgeries and to minimize being placed on pain management because “nothing’s wrong.” Third, what to expect if surgery is planned and the different options. Fourth,
A section on post op care would be a great option as well. I think steps in recovery for the single hernia to the multiple hernias(as in my case) should be outlined describing what to expect, projected time frame, and expectations that should occur. For example, in reading other post (assuming there’s were a single hernia, not my case) they were up and going in 48 hrs pain free. Myself I feel improvement every day post two weeks but clearly having some of the same discomfort. So my dellima is, did I do Something to soon, did I do something wrong to cause injury, or did it not take? I know everyone heals differently but a guideline of post op care could provide a sense of “a light at the end of the tunnel.”Also, I feel a section that outlines post surgery exercises would be very beneficial. Imagine a picture or video workout for core strengthening. This may insure patient compliance safety and they can follow at there pace while insuring a better prognosis of no recurrences. While on subject of exercises maybe a segment to prevent the hernia in the first place and see if one finds improvement and eliminates surgery in the first place.
Lastly, addressing the fee. I would defiinetly pay for this type of an app. To be able to find everything in one place would be very practical and beneficial. As a skeptical person it would have to be done in a way one wouldn’t think it’s not just someone trying to make a quick buck. Let me explain, there are some sites having you fill out a symptom tracker, then states for you to pay for the answer. I find I leave that type of site.
Anyways, I know somewhat long but hope this helps and you understand what I’m trying to get across. Keep up the good work!

Could this be a hidden hernia ?

    Hi Dr Towfigh
Well I’m scheduled with you for a consult on August 18 and proposed surgery on the 20. I just have a couple questions, first I can tell my symptoms are now daily and worsening. I’ve noticed more cramping in both groins along with the other symptoms as well as some
Nausea on occasion. (1) Is the cramping something I should be concerned with? As you know your very popular, so I am with the earliest appointment available. (2) Should I have a back up dr here on the east coast that you could recomend. Dr. Ramshaw is in his transition to relocate so not an option. I had a massage today for relaxation and just being on my stomach and having lower back done gave me the worse cramps about 30 min after. I’m assuming that’s what caused it ( So no more back rubs til taken care of). I laid down and iced and helped a little. I refrain from er as I know it will be same sonerio nothing wrong!
I almost jumped on plane and considered er there, then they would call you haha! I’ve researched and know you are the dr to do this with a positve outcome and no complications(4 years long enough).
Lastly, (3) contemplating driving(my husband and sister not me) so I can get up more often and lay if needed or should I bare the flight.
I’m sorry to be a bother, I just want to make sure I’m ok to wait 3 more weeks and the best option for travel now.

    Thank you
P.S. Myron and Sheila the best!!!

Could this be a hidden hernia ?

    Dear Dr Towfigh,
Saw Dr Ramshaw on Thursday July 16. A physical exam was performed and a right inguinal hernia confirmed. Also in left is a small hernia or weekend wall. Dr Ramshaw stated it would be checked as well as femoral during surgery. I’m sure your aware of his relocating to another state so surgery would be 3 to 6 months out. I have decided to have you perform the surgery and he will be submitting a report of his findings to you.

Just a quick question, you stated MRI confirmed diagnosis, ( I have not had MRI and Dr Ramshaw felt it unnecessary) is this something that is mandatory for you? I am tested out and I don’t think I could handle MRI.

I will contact Sheila on scheduling the surgery and look forward to meeting you in person and getting my life back. Thank you so much for everything you have done and will do.

To all who read this forum and are in a familiar situation, DONT GIVE UP!!!

Could this be a hidden hernia ?

Hello Dr Towfigh just wanted to post update.
I am through taking care of everyone else and now it’s my turn. About three weeks ago an emergency in a store occurred where I had to perform CPR. When EMS arrived I got up and was in a lot of pain mostly right but now intermittent on left as well. I had made an appointment with Dr Ramshaw whom you recomended and will see on July 16. Had a few episodes and saw my primary and took your notes from the online consultation and he ordered ct scan with and without contrast and valsalva. Same results as the one a year ago no hernia but noted again mild to moderate degenerative hips. Of course I was sure something would show since the pain has increased and comes more often as well as last longer. I received a call from dr Ramshaw’s office who informed me he is not taking new patients for surgery as they maybe Relocating but will still see me for a consultation. Not sure if it is in my head now and that it’s caused by my degenerative hips I am keeping the appointment as my last quest for an answer. If he feels it is hernia he would recommend a surgeon or I could come see you. If he feels it is a hernia/hernias I will be coming to California and hope I will be posting “I
Have my life back” to encourage others to not give up!!! Wish me luck and I will post the outcome of
    My appointment with Dr Ramshaw.

    Dear Dr
In a previous conversation prior to reports you had mentioned Dr Ramshaw, is this who you would recommend I see for a consultation and possibly schedule the MRI Valvasia ? Also did you notice any possible scar tissue that could be the cause?
    Thank you
    Kathy

Thank you I was sure hoping you would have seen something on ct or Ultrasounds. If I just wait will it get worst making it more easily diagnosed if it is in fact a hernia? I’m beginning to think maybe it is scar tissue of which nothing can be done. Not to keen on MRI and finding one who is skilled to Do it. Just feel like its a loosing battle.Ill see how I feel and keep you posted.
Thank you for your time and expertise.
