Mamadunlop I’m so glad u have a plan. I to have recently by diagnosed with 3 incisional hernias after having surgery just 5 months back. Just wondering if u have tried any kind of diet therapy to lose the weight? If anything has worked in the past. I’ve briefly talked to my surgeon over the phone and told me I would need a large mesh with a component seperation type surgery.. I will get a second opinion from dr towfigh.

Dr townfigh I’m in the states right now. I’d like to send my stuff over to u and go through the phone consult u have. I’m going to get my previous Ct cd and along with the current one send u both. I am overweight so that might be a reason but this just keeps getting worse.

As far as chronic pain goes.. there are other factors to a successful surgery. Weight, Wether u smoke, constipation. U need to make sure ur surgeon does plenty of hernia surgeries specifically the type of surgery u are going to have. It doesn’t seem like the hernias bother u to much so why not get another opinion

Here is a small collage of my hernia. The first 3 are pics before surgery. The one with gauze is a week after surgery, and the last one is 3 months after surgery. I started to play some tennis recently but stopped as it was causing some discomfort

Also I read somewhere that most specialists are now using medium weight mesh for ventral hernias is this correct?

Hi Dr. thank you for your reply. Yes ventral-light mesh was used. Im in Okinawa. Do u have any recommendations for surgeons here? I had a thought that it might be a reoccurance but I can’t find any actual defect. There is a slight BUlge/swelling that still remains but this area was hard as a rock before and now has softened up. This is the area that makes the noise when I press on it.

Hi thanks for your comment. I just keep worrying about a reoccurance. I did start playing tennis recently. I do still have a seroma still and have a golf ball sized hardened tissue of some sort inside of it. But this crunchy/popping feeling is on my left side (seroma and repaired hernia on right side of midline abdomen) I push on the area that’s popping but the swelling doesn’t reduce. I live in Okinawa Japan so I’ll have to wait till august to see the surgeon at dr goodyears office

Hi I did have another open repair earlier today. Dr used ventralight
mesh. In a lot of pain. Icing on and off and taking Percocet. But the huge(soccer ball size) bulge is gone.

Who told u it could be the psoas? If it is the psoas muscle being to tight.. the other side would be to weak and that imbalance would need to be corrected. Once it is corrected ur pain should decrease quite a bit unless it is coming from something else(hidden hernia)… just my opinion

Hi Dr, thank you for your reply. I have a couple of questions I’m hoping you can answer..Is this considered a recurrent hernia or an incisional? Also would u recommend an actual closure of the defect with ventral hernias or is tension free ok.. I have a consult with Dr girschkan and also at Dr goodyears office(with one of his partners) thanks in advance. My second surgery was done with dr minehart(dr goodyears partner). I did feel great afterwards but noticed another bulge below the healing ridge a month or two later
