MemberSeptember 20, 2022 at 11:12 pm in reply to: Dr Ulrike Muschawek on Hernia Talk 20th SeptemberMaybe not pain but this patient wasn’t very impressed:
It’s from patient info
“Dr Ulrike Muschaweck is the problem here. She is a very careless surgeon.
Her surgery on my hernia in late 2015 left me with sexual dysfunction, incontinence and numbness. Google her with the word “problem” and you will find other cases where her surgery has wreaked havoc on hapless patients.”.Such a shame that it seems no surgeon has no bad review. It is really a gamble.
From a previous research I believe Glenn Murray (Crystal Palace) had 2 surgeries with her that didn’t work and eventually was treated in UK by Prof Lloyd.
On the other hand I also just read about an American who can’t praise her enough.

MemberSeptember 20, 2022 at 8:47 pm in reply to: The Shouldice Method: an expert’s consensusI think one of the English surgeons does 3 layer as standard. 3 layer is adequate he feels.
Hopefully the pain issue subsides Jtk2, 36 hours after isn’t too long, still recovering.
Some people take laxatives after.
Moving during op has always concerned me too if local.

I seem to recall a poster writing they were thinking of legal action, I seem to remember that was Baris. But can’t find that post anymore.

MemberSeptember 20, 2022 at 12:31 pm in reply to: Sexual Disfunction risk after repairAt least, according to this study although there is still a risk with tissue repair, it is less than the risk with mesh repairs.
“Ejaculatory pain is often located at the superficial inguinal ring that can last from a few minutes to several hours. Although dysejaculation is a rare complication of pure tissue repairs, the incidence of dysejaculation has increased with the widespread use of meshes for inguinal hernia repair.”
Take your point about ending up worse possibly but there are risks to almost all surgical procedures and that can apply to those procedures too. All you/we can do is our best to minimise them.

I did notice it said the hernia could cause dysfunction!
But I’m not as analytical as yourself!
Nevertheless it did strike me as odd! -

MemberSeptember 19, 2022 at 3:19 pm in reply to: The Shouldice Method: an expert’s consensusHello Bob, I googled and Boston hernia has an info pdf that says it’s common after shouldice repair. And will ease with time.
But I can’t see an exact timeframe given. If it’s getting better maybe give it a bit more time.
Have you contacted surgeon or centre where it was done?

Walking, biking and swimming are usually the ones you see recommended.
I’m no keep fitter but I think squats of any kind are not good.

That was it Good Intentions….at least that’s how it reads to me.

From Baris re Biohernia. ” I firstly ever contacted them in regards to desarda however when i got there i was told by dr koch that he will do a shouldice with absorbable sutures and that he wont perform desarda and never does as he believes its for skinny people. So yh they definently aim to firstly lure you in. “
-
Actually Good Intentions, if you read Baris’ posts, one says he went there to Germany/Bio Hetnia after asking for a desarda repair, only to be told when he got there they would do a shouldice repair but waking up to a mesh repair on one side.
Baris had complications but bio Hetnia didn’t respond to his (3) emails. Baris went to shouldice and shouldice were bemused why mesh was used by bio Hernia in Baris case
-
Have you got the Desarda studies, Watchful?
Who would you use for Desarda.
ref The Germans… I think a poster on here, Baris, woke up to find mesh had been put in.
Which is a worry!
