That is tricky as the less stressed after repair the better. Could you not wait a bit longer than the 3 months as it takes longer than that to recover. Forget all that in to hospital and out, back home, back to work stuff.

However I’m sure I’ve read Dr Kang did an op on a pregnant person nor they have birth not long after surgery… So maybe possible

Ah the gurgling as far as I can tell isn’t confined to my hernia. Not sure what it means then!

From what I’ve read the recovery is slower with Desarda, or can be, Chuck. Two years until full strength apparently. Gradual improvement.

Not sure that means pain or just tissue bonding though.

    Thank you Dr Kang.
Would it be possible to let us know what you do with cremaster and also the gentifemoral, illoinguinal nerves etc, please. If you have time.

And for overseas visitors how long would you suggest they should stay after operation?

One further no question Mike M….
How long after surgery do you intend to stay in Korea?

This is something I think about a lot.

If Dr Kang repair is a variation on this it sounds good to me.

Good luck Mike M, hope it goes well. If you think of it and don’t mind. Could you keep us updated afterwards do you think? When you think of it.

It’s really helpful to those of us who ate finding it difficult to decide where to go etc.

Is Marcy the high stitching? That is usually done in children? If so there was a post on the forum that was a link to one surgeon who advocates for it’s use in adults due to less pain I think it was and no mesh.

Someone may remember it. It was the surgeon saying he was going against convention.

Thanks Mike, are you any closer to deciding who, where, when you’ll have operation?

I seem to go round in circles. From Germany, Canada, India, USA, Korea.

    Dr Kang sounds very good.

Thanks for the well written report. Have you considered Dr Yunis, I cannot remember!

I’ve got both Dr Kang and Dr Yunis on possible list

That’s really interesting, so Lichtenstein did tissue repairs initially? Have I got that right?

But they weren’t Shouldice or Desarda?

Strangely enough my dad told me during a chat we had last week one of his friends had hernias repaired both sides, years ago. He didn’t think mesh was around then and his friend was “back to normal” almost immediately.

I wondered what method they’d used before mesh.

It would be interesting to know what the British Athletes board recommends or who they use instead of mesh.

The question avoid surgeons or fix me is a bit simplistic, bit loaded. Even then most avoid. If it were try to fix me, attempt to fix me the difference may be more.

Then again I suppose avoid surgeons accept risks would be too.

Again, how many are fully aware of tissue repairs? It’s largely a lost skill so unless they’ve come across it, would they actually all know about it?

I’m not the most erudite on this forum or the intellectual but the lost, forgotten skill thing is a bit like asking if you were to do clothes washing would you use a washing machine or hand wash?

Most people would use machine (convenient, easier, what they know, deemed to be mote current) despite risks of shrinkage, damage etc.

Tissue repair is so distant to many it isn’t even taught. So how would many surgeons know much about it?

To make an informed decision it would have to be ascertained that all respondents were aware equally of all methods and all risks.

Ps. As it’s 5am I haven’t read all links so don’t know if they were or not!

I have Monika but I can’t find any reviews about his tissue repairs and I believe he cuts cremaster etc.

He did do one of the strictly dancing celebs “hernia” but suspect it was sports hernia. I only found that in a local paper online.

Apart from that cant find much about him

  • Monika, Ive re-read it, and it relates to a mesh repair.

  • Just as Dr Yunis was sounding like good option I’ve found a bad review sadly so like Dr Kang, the Germans, Shouldice etc. Not 100 percent. This person had to have osteomy bag after bowel damaged and still has hernia.

Yes I am thinking of outside UK possibly, Monika. Even though I’m not a good traveller.
