Hello Lucas
I haven’t had my hernia repaired so don’t have personal experience of mesh or its removal but I do look at some hernia groups on Facebook.
One, hernia mesh hurts too, has a lot of posts from people who have had mesh taken out. You could look at that group if you are on Facebook.
Dr Krpata gets a lot of mentions and I think a recent person had or is having removal by Dr Billing I think.
Have a look it may be helpful

Add in bph and being male and it increases more!

“In terms of anesthetic technique and the risk of POUR: spinal is greater than epidural is higher than general anesthesia”. Are any of those local?

Thanks, yes the British Hernia Centre. They do say that open mesh gives best results and I think it seems that’s right. Certainly from the stories on here it seems lap is more problematic.
They are high volume and specialist so that goes in their/your favour.
I read somewhere, someone went there from America due to their good reputation.
Fingers crossed for you that recovery continues well.

Also plenty of fruit and fibre. Orange juice is good for me.
What was the name of your surgeon.
Was it open with mesh rather than keyhole with mesh?
Good news is when mesh works it works really, really well.

Thanks for the reply Jacob. I think with this sort of operation, one can expect slightly pain for quite some time, that was my experience with a non hernia surgery.
I think it will get better and better for you and those of us who consider Dr Kang for our repair appreciate these candid reports.
I’m still Watchful waiting as fortunately my hernia symptoms aren’t terrible at present – did you wait a long time and what finally made you get surgery?
I’m in the UK so the flight is putting me off a bit also but if Dr Kang is as good as all his patients say on here it may be Korea for me. I don’t think there’s been a single bad report reg Dr Kang on hernia talk

Thanks Jacob, can I ask a few questions please..
Pain after operation? How bad and how long?
Were your hernia/s direct or indirect?
What made you choose Dr Kang?
Sorry to ask but it may help those of us who are considered a Kang repair.thanks

For a simpleton could someone just say which is least likely and most to result in chronic pain?Like a league table format… It would be much appreciated.
I’m thinking Marcy, Shouldice, Lichtenstein?
By Marcy is that Dr Kangs variety of it?

Wells done Watchful..I had a feeling things would improve for you. Glad they have. As you must be.
Like I said many times, even when I had minor non hernia stomach surgery it took a year to year and a half for me to be pain free.
You’re doing well
