I am from a rural area not real smart but what does TEP stand for and what is TAAP
-
Actually found 1 negative review for 1 in Sarasota, and wasn’t a big issue for me
Best thing u can do get to your appointment early and ask patients
Leaving office from appointment what they think -
Curious how many days after having surgery did you stay in California
In case a complication arose, this is what scares me about having one of the top surgeons doing my hernia operation, surgeon I chose if I let him do it is a 12 hour drive, by plane it would be 4 hours, if a complication arises months later it would entail another visit far off
My skeptical mind always looks at downside possibilities
Most surgeons in my state do mesh only repairs, I think the ones that do no mesh repairs it would have to be really small and they don’t use any Cervantes technique like shouldice or Desarda I think it would be just a stich over, and I dint know how that would hold up -
I know when I went for my first check up the doctor sent in one of his underling
Students, to show me a piece of the mesh they use it look like it had hooks
On the end of it not 1 hook but multiple hooks looked like the same type thing u would hang a picture frame on your wall
To hold it
My words to him is it pretty safe , he said it’s pretty chemically inert
He didn’t say it was 100 percent safe and didn’t say it was 100 percent chemically inert, that’s when my blood pressure went up
On my next visit to the surgeon I asked him if he could a no mesh repair he said he could but wouldn’t feel comfortable, he is about 38 years olds
This sent me in a tailspin of delaying surgery going on 60 days
I like thought of mesh in some ways and in lots of ways I don’t
I was told by 1 surgeon all the suturing that takes place in shouldice can lead
To chronic pain in 2-3 percent of cases
but mesh isn’t chronic free pain either
So I twist and turn trying to decide -
I am also wondering did they cut cremaster muscle
What would have been the cost in us dollars -

Who incidentally had his hernia repair in Canada at shouldice clinic
It’s very interesting and scary at the same time
Never thought having a hernia could scramble my head up

Placing mesh outside the abdomen would that be a satisfactory repair
-
I asked why not laproscopic they said had a higher recurrence rate
-
One of the surgeons not on forum that were recommended girls answering phone said
They didn’t take Medicare, I asked who they would recommend they said whatever you do
Or use don’t get it laparoscopically -
Send me a chat when you get a chance

I wonder if all the surgeons that make contributions for information to this website, use a tailored approach when looking at patient for hernia repair
Seems like to me most of the surgeons that do hernia repair especially the
Younger ones say under 50 really push hard to do mesh only, at least that’s what I have run into in my area of the country which is rural southeast
I even contacted one surgeon that is a member of the American hernia society
Point blank told open tissue repair was a an inferior repair and he wasn’t aware of anyone around now that did open tissue repair, I might have put this post in wrong area sorry if I did, I don’t remember how to start a new topic, but was also going to ask is it better to use a surgeon that’s a member of the American hernia society than not, seems like most general surgeons are not -
Doc, I wonder are there any new inguinal hernia meshes on the horizon in next few years
That are going to be more acceptable to the human body rather than the ones currently in market,
Another question if a tissue repair fails,(shouldice) can you do another tissue repair or at that point to fix hernia would you have to definitely go back to mesh
To repair, just curious -
Doc, if they place mesh outside abdomen since I have Crohn’s would that still be
A satifactory repair for the inguinal hernia
Are most inguinal hernias repaired outside or inside abdomen
Thanx -
Thanx doc
For speedy response your a great contributor for your insight and knowledge
I wish some day I could sit down And have a Starbucks coffee with u
Will never happen I am to poor to get out of Alabama
Thanx again
For all you do -
I have elevated psa levels and enlarged prostate, how will those levels be effected by either a mesh or non mesh repair
-
I have heard negative information about cutting the cremaster muscle
In the shouldice technique, is it necessary to cut the cremaster muscle
And is it possible to ask surgeon not to cut it while doing that technique -
No doc, what’s sadder people that refer to themselves as a hernia specialist
Only know 1 technique putting mesh in, that’s liking calling out a master plumber
For a busted waterline and then he gets there and says I only work repairing
Kitchen faucets
My logic might not be right, because my ex wife says I am not to smart
I think she gave me the hernia
As always I remain
Your friend
