DrBrown I’ve been to tons of doctors. some say nerve others say muscle. I don’t have any numb or burning. it’s just a deep achy pain. it gets worse with activity and after activity too. if I sit a long time, it does get better but right when I get up and stand I automatically feel it again. does that tell you anything? I’ll get a pic when I can!

drtowfigh what do you mean by the scar tissue cannot be relief upon on its own for bridged hernia repair?
could scar tissue be causing my pain? I was looking into a sports chiropractor who does soft tissue work.

NFG12 He’s doing a CT guided genital branch nerve block with some cortisone. My pain is like in the low rectus abdominis and pubic area / pubic bone.. I guess where the rectus abdominis and pubic bone attach too. All that area. I’m just now thinking maybe the ilioinguinal or iliohypogastric nerve would cause that pain more than the genitofemoral nerve (Genital branch)….
drtowfigh do you have any insight on which nerve would make more sense for where I’m hurting? I trust your insight 100%! -
Jnomesh I’ve googled it and the pictures vary.. is there a picture in particular that would be good? I’m like in between 2 nerves.
-
Chaunce1234 I will! Do you know if those different nerves affect different areas? Or are they kind of all in the same area?
-
Just the genitofemoral nerve. If this doesn’t work, I think I’m going to get the ilioinguinal nerve.
Chaunce1234 Is all 3 at once better?

Chaunce1234 I have digestive issues so I don’t think the extended course of NSAID’s would work 🙁 also… I’m getting a CT guided nerve block this month.. is that what you mean by the ultrasound nerve block?

Good intentions I just didn’t have issues after my hernia surgery until I had an injury while working out. I had my surgery in 2015 and my injury was this past jan. So I think the mesh is okay because I had no issues for those 3 years.

drtowfigh okay thank you. could I also ask one more question — if I had more low rectus abdominis and pubic / pubic bone area achy pain, would you say that could be more so genitofemoral, illioinguinal, and/or iliohypogastric nerve?

drtowfigh if it doesn’t go away, do you have any suggestions as to what I should do or look for next? thank you for replying!

drtowfigh is what good intentions posted a good idea of what might be causing the fluid? I’d really like to know your opinion!
Good intentions thank you.. I’m gonna ask Dr Towfigh! -
Chaunce1234 Well it says the fluid is by my prior hernia repair, which is where I’m having my symptoms so idk!

MemberApril 28, 2018 at 7:54 pm in reply to: Scar Tissue Question for Dr. Towfigh Pleasedrtowfigh thank you so much! would you be able to tell if that it’s actually scar tissue causing the pain through just examination? Also I had my hernia repaired in 2015 laprascopically .. would there still be scar tissue if I didn’t have an open surgery?
-
Chaunce1234 i sent you a personal message!

would a MRI show either of those diagnoses? I don’t have a bulge for a recurrent hernia but if it was “hidden,” would it still show? I’m trying to figure out what’s causing my issues. thank you!

Ok thank you! Would constant bloating go with one more than another?

drkang ,
Thank you for your reply!!
My injury happened after an exercise during a workout. I don’t play a sport you mentioned. It was just lifting weights.
My pain is in the same area as my previous inguinal hernia repair (in 2015). No sharp pains. Like an achy and dull pain instead. I feel it with just walking and moving every day. I don’t have pain with coughing, sneezing, sit ups though. I don’t have a bulge. But I would say my pain is in the inguinal canal (as mentioned just previously, same area as my inguinal hernia repair).
Anyways the 2 doctors think it’s a sports hernia but I’m not sure because I don’t have all the symptoms. Is it still possible to have a sports hernia if I don’t have all the characteristics?
Thank you so much!
