Awesome. Glad you took our advice and went with the “no mesh” optiion

Don’t do it! If you are not in pain and don’t have any issues related to the hernia just wait. If you read just a few posts here you will soon see why. I was considering a high rated surgeon that used mesh, but after spending time here I decided no way in hell i’m getting mesh.
Of course, the statistics say you should be fine with mesh, I’m just not willing to take that chance. Hernias were repaired for decades without mesh.

I read they can last up to 72 hours.
I also heard of pain pumps, but saw some good and bad about those. Maybe the bad was operator error by the patients.

Dr. Towfigh,
I was considering Dr. Tomas but it seems you have reservations about Desarda. If i can manage it I like Dr. Brown.
I have been watchful waiting for 5 years. Noticeable but not large bulge. A dull ache when standing for a few hours. If i move a certain way i feel a pinch/sting for a second or so. No other issues.
I work for the post office delivering mail and lots of Amazon. I’m just waiting for the day something breaks loose when i pick up a heavy package.

Dr. Towfigh,
I was considering Dr. Tomas but it seems you have reservations about Desarda. If I can manage it I really like Dr. Brown.

Dog, did Dr. Brown arrange a hotel for you or suggest a hotel?
Also, what about transportation to/from airport and surgery center?

Dr. Brown is a Boss. He would do his own surgery…..without anesthesia.

I’m in Texas and am in the “watchful waiting” period. But when the time does come I am definitely going no mesh. I’m considering Dr. Brown or Dr. Tomas in Fla.
You would think that there would be someone in Texas. With UT, Houston, San Antonio and Dallas you would imagine there would be at least 1 very good no mesh doctor. It seems that is not the case.

simple answer. go to a no mesh surgeon

Did you consider Dr. Tomas in Florida?

MemberApril 29, 2018 at 12:36 pm in reply to: Hernia possibly getting worse? What to keep an eye on?I see a lot of complaints online about botched mesh repairs. And that makes me really think about what method I want. However, from all the reviews I have seen Dr. Abikhaled seems to have a lot of satisfied customers. I have not seen one bad review of him. I also remind myself that most people that have successful surgeries just don’t post about it online. Its usually just people that have had problems. Maybe that makes it seem like something is a lot worse than it actually is. Even after helping cut down an oak tree and haul off big sections and a recent cold with sneezing and coughing, I still don’t have hernia pain or a noticeable bulge. I may be getting hired by the post office and if so will be changing insurance plans. If I can go a few more months without any issues I may consider getting it fixed. Still leaning to Dr. A instead of going out of state. Thanks for your advice.
