Good intentions for exploration he wants to go first laparoscopically to see if the mesh has folded (my mesh was placed laparoscopically).
then if he finds nothing go open and cut nerves if nerves are entrapped.
that is his plan.
Surgery description: exploration with possible neuroctomy.

My pain started 1.5 years after surgery. I was doing okish over all.
One day I lifted heavy weight and felt something went wrong, it is been 6 months, I cant walk or bend, I have chronic pain (pressure inside and inflammation). It is one event that caused things to get messed up.

Hi Dog, he is a good doctor but I want to someone to give me why it is the mesh.

For me the pain started 1.5 years post surgery after I lifted a heavy weight. I want someone that help diagnostic the pain.

Thanks for your reply @Good intentions.

I cant feel the boundaries of the mesh.
I feel like someone hit with a hammer in the area where the mesh is. Sometimes there is inflammation.
What hurts me the most is bending or sitting or wearing any tight close. I cant walk too, the more I walk I feel pressure building up in the mesh area.

I am trying to decide of the algorithm I should follow.
1) Should I go ahead and remove the mesh?
2) Should I do exploration first (Dr proposed 6 inches incision for open exploration which is no joke) + laparoscopic (as you said the mesh might took healthy).

Thanks for your reply @dog
yes I talked to Dr Brown on the phone, He said he wants to remove the mesh without giving me evidence. Removal is very tough, I cant just jump into it without proof.

I did MRI and CT did not show seroma. Is there a way to check for that
I just did normal weight lifting and felt something went wrong.
what scared me is that the pain chronic along the area were the mesh exist, might be the mesh itself.

The pain is different from pain before original surgery. the surgery was in 2016 issues started in Jan 2018 after heavy weight lifting

Thanks for your reply.
no problem masturbating.
I did the nerve blocks but it did not work. after surgery I had minor pain but after heavy weight lifting a stabbing pain started in the area where the mesh is.
it is been 6 months and Is still cant walk. the only thing MRI show is adductor longus tear but I asked 20 doctors and no one thinks that can be the root cause. I have few doctors suggesting removing the mesh because they dont know what is going on.

Damien, what did you do with the pain? did you get the mesh out

Thanks for you reply.
I have the mesh on the left side only. the pain is around that area. I asked where the mesh and that is where the pain is too.
I lifted a door while volunteering and that is where I felt something went wrong. I have been doing it for a while but one lift I felt something went south.

Yeah I was surprised too, I really dont know what can it be. the MRI and CT are negative, but the pain is really bad, especially if I bend.

I am in NYC, I already saw J Brian and Belyansky. They dont think its the mesh but they dont have an answer for it

I did some lifting and I felt something went wrong, after 3 days things got ugly, I cant walk anymore and the pain is insane in the area where the mesh is.

Thanks for you reply and comment on Dr Ramshaw. yeah I am really confused, not sure what to do to be honest, all doctors so far proposed exploratory surgery. Removing the mesh is a big decision but I dont know what else to do at this point.

I am glad you are happy you get the mesh out!! Hope your recoveries goes perfectly.

Thanks for your reply, I talked to Dr Brown and he recommended removing the mesh. I am thinking of getting the mesh removed by Dr Ramshaw, what are your thoughts about him?

The pain is constant, I can do any physical activity but when I walk with a cane it goes up. It is ben 6month, I am not sure if this will fix itself.

Yes thanks for your reply, you have very good points.
The pain I have is in the mesh area and very intense, sometime feels like pressure, sometimes lot of inflammation. I cant band over or walk or sit especially on solid surface, also I need to unzip my pants every-time I sit.

Do you know what other doctor specialties I should consider?

How long for you beteween exploratory and actual removal?

I already saw 3 of the famous removal doctor and they saw nothing on the CT.
It is inguinal hernia, doctor used Metronic self fixating mesh placed laparoscopically.

I am trying to decide whether I should do exploratory first, wake and doctor tells me what he thinks, or just go for the removal.

I had repair in June 2016, some mild discomfort after surgery. But killer pain started Jan 2018 after heavy lifting, I am currently disabled, cant walk and in chronic pain.
