If part of the hernia yes huge. Or was it two hernias?
I’m sure I’ve read size doesn’t equate to symptoms necessarily..it’s possible to have a small hernia and troubling symptoms and conversely a large hernia without.

I was amazed companies were pushing inexperienced surgeons into complex, and what sounds like unnecessary and unneeded, hernia repair technique purely for profit.
I shouldn’t be amazed after gleaning similar reports on here from time to time, including your links, but I was still astounded.
Where’s the regulating boards?
Ethic committees?
Government agencies?I would have thought surgery and surgery methods were better regulated.
And you’re right it isn’t comfortable reading for anyone, myself included, considering surgery.

And what if it happened on way to another country for surgery? -

Horrible. Nightmare. Should have accepted patients wishes.
Wasn’t it Dr Koch who Baris had a bad op and result with.

You can buy hernia pants which are similar. I wore them to one consultation and the surgeon said they’d be really good for after surgery.

Hello Mark H, was there little pain immediately after as some other Kang patients seem to have had quite a lot of pain. Which I think settled down thankfully.
How much cash did you take approximately?
Once again it’s another satisfied patient for Dr Kang. That’s how many on this forum now? 12? It’s quite amazing and reassuring for those consistency a Dr Kang repair. Great endorsements. Not sure any other surgeon mentioned on here gets a 99.9 satisfaction score.

“I plan to follow up with an addition to this thread detailing costs and a few problems that I had at my end with flights, banks and insurance. This was nothing to do with the hospital so it warrants a post of its own.”
That’s brilliant. I was just going to ask about the costs and insurance etc so look forward to that.
In the meantime good luck and hope swelling improves..it all takes time.

Thanks for updates Mark H
I’ve forgotten which country you are from though.

Thanks for updates Kody..sounds like everything is going well. F
Good luck -
Just recently discovered that Greg Sandler, the UK Bassini and mesh surgeon in Oxford, now mainly does open mesh after having done keyhole as he finds better results. Which is the same as the British Hernia Centre who dropped it too in favour of open.

It was there I think I read someone saying it shouldn’t be placed in the human body and I wondered where that came from then came upon this
https://www.meshmedicaldevicenewsdesk.com/articles/mesh-polypropylene-resin-not-meant-human-implantsHowever, there are plenty of people for whom mesh works very well and, in the case of some Shouldice I believe the amount of sutures are numerous and can be polypropylene too.

Here is a bit more about the surgeon
“Mr Sadler now only performs local aneasthetic hernia surgery. He is the largest single user of ProGrip mesh in the United Kingdom (approximately 4000 procedures) and has performed almost 6000 career hernia operations”.
Presumably a fair number of the remaining 2000 were tissue repairs?
From March this year insurance no longer accepted. I wonder why? Just out of curiousity really.

Ken, was it mesh surgery? 6 weeks is still quite early. Has the pain eased at all during that time.
What I’ve gleaned from reading a lot about hernia repair is that the back to normal in days or weeks is in most cases wrong and more often takes much much longer. Hopeful you’ll get improvement over time.If possible try to walk a bit as I think that is recommended to aid recovery.

MemberSeptember 20, 2023 at 11:45 pm in reply to: Pain/discomfort on both sides from nerve irritation on one sideNow you’ve mentioned it Jack, when. Simon Bailey examined me he pressed quite hard down in about three to four areas around and on hernia asking “any pain” and then said “Good, not touching any nerves”. So I think you’ve got that right.
I’ve had prolapsed discs and they definitely did press on the sciatic nerve. Very painful.
