I think Pintos advice is very good and reasonable. I’d give Dr Conze until tomorrow afternoon and then ring again. Sometimes messages don’t get passed on to the person they heed to be. It could be that.
Good to hear one side at least is how you’d hoped/expected.
Thank you for reports and feedback now and I’m the future.
I’m sure I read about a Desarda patient who had pain for about a month and then it resolved. Hopefully the same or quicker may be true of Shouldice in this case.

Thanks for the update Oceanic, much appreciated as there isn’t much discussion or feedback re Dr Conze or many of the other Germans on the forum as Good Intentions says.
I hope things improve for you. Maybe the fact both sides were repaired is why there is more pain. It can be a long healing process after such surgery so every reason tomhope it gets better and better. Please if you can keep us updated. Many thanks.

“I still believe that if the hernia numbers were not so big we wouldn’t be in this messy substandard situation….”
Is it that there are so many hernia repairs needed worldwide?

Treating hernia in MALE INFANTS. By R. A. RAMSAY, M.Ch.(Cantab.), F.R.C.S.Eng.
It says a truss in children can cure but not generally in adult cases. In children the tissue is still soft etc

Here’s a study of yoga therapy. I’ve only skimmed through but seems to be it can help relieve and reduce but not cure.
The segment about pain after surgery Chuch maybe interested in.

All the time I was wearing the, in my case, compression pants, the bulge was small but I found if I stopped wearing them for any length of time the hernia would come back to original size.
I think the problem is the hole/tear is unlikely to close up, it’s always going to be there.
…That said, on a general chat forum, there was a thread about hernias and one person had one as a small boy and was told to wear a truss and not run or do anything vigorous, he had to wear it 24/7. He is now retired and never had hernia surgery so the hole must have closed … I didn’t know that was possible. But can’t see why he’d lie. Maybe it wasn’t a hernia but sport injury.

It could very well be as the hernia surgeon’s name is Joachim Conze.
Is it good or bad he is or was a member of said group? -
If possible would you please be able to do an update when you are feeling up to it after. It would help some of those considering options.
-
I’m not medically qualified but I think it’s unlikely one side would affect the other. It is possible to have hernias both sides, even if one is tiny or, as in my case a “weakness” was how one consultant put it. On the other hand your other side may not have a hernia and it maybe unrelated to hernia. Infection spermatic tubes for example.

* Not as slim as I used to be

He mentioned in passing some sporadic discomfort maybe at times. He went on to clarify before Dr Kang repair pain was 7 and after 0.0 or near enough I seem to remember.
The ideal would be nothing of course but i also remember a poster saying or asking is anyone’s groin the same after hernia surgery. It may have been your good self Chuck or Watchful.

MemberMay 10, 2023 at 10:05 pm in reply to: Fixing a Hernia by unconventional methodsThere is a yoga clinic in Brighton who say certain exercises can help greatly, also Craig Sams claims to have cured his hernia by wearing a support, losing weight, eating well and exercise, he has a site called hernia bible. There is also a mention on a site that sells compression hernia pants that some people have cured their hernias by wearing them 24 7.
I was quite excited by all this and posted about it but as many replied saying it could be these people just altered their life style to cope rather than a real cure.
One person who thought he’d cured it went on to have a repair so I read on a forum.
The Brighton physio and yoga sounds most plausible and reasonable.

As I say I had surgery, not deep nor hernia, but surgery and it was painful at times for ages after. My mum had surgery it was painful at times for years after, even causing her to double over, but eventually resolved. My partner had surgery and had pain on and off for ages.
I’m confident you’ll ‘settle’ similarly in time.

Never heard about deep anatomy but you’d think, or hope, they’d cover all this before the operation. Maybe it’s not possible to tell before surgery.
Another worry!

Ref charges, it may also have something to
do with Dr Conze being a colleague, at least at one time, of Dr Muschawek. And I believe that is a prestigious clinic, surgeon and surgery. -
Freeman said Dr Weiss told him at the start of his repair, don’t worry I’ll take as long as it needs. Or words to that effect.

Hello Chuck, sorry to say I don’t have any great knowledge like the other posters do.
I take on board all your comments above, Chuck.
It is such a hard choice.
I’d definitely be interested in other posters views on the Germans and Dr Kang.
