    Norton,

Im in the same situation and have drawn the same conclusion you have.
    Would prefer non-mesh tissue repair.

Is it best to potentially risk quality of life and fix it or try to live with it and even then have to give something up.

I was also told 30% chance of chronic long term pain and that may be too low chance.
    Some pain could be debilitating.
Mesh — who will react to or reject it .. like playing russian roulette.
Something could happen with sutures too.
Who will react this way .. nobody knows.

Would you recommend mesh or tissue repair for male inguinal hernia with documented autoimmune disorder?

Any specific exercises that we can do to help close the defect or hole a little bit i.e. strengthen muscles?

    Autoimmune Watch wait or fix

    Pondering my options here.
The older suture technique produces permanent stiffness(is the Shouldice technique tension free?), loss of function?, pain and higher reoccurrence. The suture material could also be a source of rejection in a preexisting autoimmune patient.
Mesh material high probability of potential rejection in pre – existing autoimmune patient. Although it would appear the lighter weight mesh would cause less inflammatory response.
    Bewdildering decision.

On trying to minimize symptoms core strengthening was suggested what excersizes would they be?

    Thx.

    Autoimmune Watch wait or fix

    Thanks for that post.
I hadn’t thought about the immune system rejecting or reacting to permanent sutures.
If it does how on earth would you get them out?
    Are they all polypropylene?
