  • I get a rash from some metals, not all, from belt buckles, zips and backs of watches. I’ve asked some consultants, and I think Dr Towfigh, all have said I should probably avoid steel sutures. So an allergy reaction would probably mean best to avoid mesh. Especially as once it’s in, it’s difficult to get out.

That’s essentially my understanding, especially of the Desarda repair. Up to 2 years to recover. I did read similar, about Desarda, but of course life being life I can’t find it now.

In fact the only ‘bad’ result, if it can be called that, was put right.
A recurrence I believe which out of recurrence and pain I think most would take recurrence.

Not seen other surgeons being mentioned on here who have put things right, just Dr Kang.

Thanks Alan, do you know I was just going to post that Dr Kang seems to have had the least bad feedback on this forum out of all the surgeons and methods. Something made even more impressive by the fact mote of his patients post here than any other surgeon I think.

Really hope Dr Towfigh can get him on her youtube channel.

I don’t know what to make of his chronic pain figures, recently released by himself on here, but at least he was very honest about it.

I’ve forgotten what country you’re in Alan.

    Here’s a Google search result

“A rare type of hernia exists called as Pantaloon or saddle-bag hernia or Dual hernia or Romberg’s hernia. This hernia is a combination of indirect and direct sacs on both sides of IEA. There is an obvious direct inguinal hernia and a small indirect type in Pantaloon Hernia.”

I think so Alan. If you have one of each kind of same side.

    Who did the repairs btw?

Obviously Dr Kang hasn’t expired! That should read, it’s good he has experienced with pantaloon hernias.

Thanks Pinto, it’s encouraging that Dr Kang has had expired with pantaloon hernias. He seems knowledgeable on most aspects actually.

I also like that so many of his former patients return to post on here

I think it is like to be off putting to potential new posters so we will be missing out on their views and experiences. Most people are here to help and to learn and exchange information. Hopefully we can get it back to that, if we all try to post in a reasonable and polite manner. Which most do.

A lot of us would be lost and floundering without this forum, it is, imo, a valuable and appreciated resource. Many thanks for setting it up and keeping it going Dr Towfigh.

    Hopefully it continues.

Somehow think the way may have been lost a bit by concentrating on recurrence so much. To the detriment to a degree of the patient.

It does mention injuries but you’re right not hernia per se.

    Strange.

I think I read Oceanic was going to take a break from the forum due to the “drama” – that will be a big loss as it’s quite rare to get a patient from one of the German surgeons posting. It’s been very useful to those considering Germany. Oceanic did say he would post updates, which I look forward to, each month.

I hope other posters and lurkers haven’t been similarly put off, we are all essentially here for similar reasons so no need for the spite I don’t think. What’s to be gained by it?

Could Dr. Lorenz mean as far as he knows the suturing is the only difference between a Kang repair and conventional Marcy. Although I’m sure Dr Kang also closes a ring or tap that others don’t. Even if suturing IS the only difference, it isn’t too important as long as it works which it seems to.

Hopefully, as Jack, suggests, Dr. Kang could join Dr. Towfigh for a discussion.

Agree with Jack that it’s a shame Dr.Lorenz didn’t reveal who his surgeon was. Mind you I suppose it’s giving publicity to a rival and presumably one in Germany.

Not sure what to make of Dr. Lorenz choosing Shouldice over Desarda unless there aren’t other Desarda capable surgeons in Germany and he can hardly operate on himself!

It seems most surgeons with hernia opt for Shouldice if they have a tissue repair. Is that 3 now that we know about, these 2 and Dr. Voeller.

Granted it’s only 3, so hardly exhaustive!

I’ll have to watch this as Dr. Lorenz is a possible. Still seems strange so few people have posted on here about German surgeons, a few about Bio and a couple for Dr Lorenz and Dr Conze. Very grateful for those that have.

That would make sense I think Watchful. Don’t some surgeons do both as a combined repair in some cases?

I do think time will bring improvement. Baris had surgery again very soon after and said he probably should have waited. I suppose it’s not easy to wait though.

Well well I saw the pope was having surgery and did wonder if it was hernia!!!?

Just to show it can affect anyone, King Charles III has a hernia repair. Always wondered who did his surgery? Does the sovereign still have a personal surgeon?

I suppose at sometime a choice has to be made. Not that I’m good at making mine. And Conze is highly rated, does fewer per day surgeries (not conveyor belt) and has good reviews. And not hours and hours away from UK.

It’s a bit like saying why Mercedes over bmw or renault over Citroen, Peugeot, ford over Vauxhall etc.

I am still thinking of Dr Kang or one of the Germans. Despite Dr. Kang being miles away from me, his reviews, reputation are what are influencing me Chuck.

Ah yes fluid. Could be that. I had fluid and swelling near the bin hernia flesh wound. Have heard fluid build up is common post hernia repairs.

Brings a new meaning to The sock down the pants trick. (Not that I’m sure rock stars really did that).

If Dr Conze wants patients to have his mobile, hopefully he will answer your concerns and address the issues soon.

I fully agree with ajm, as I have posted before on another thread I had non hernia related and far less complicated surgery years ago. I had pain for sometime after. My mum had keyhole for another non hernia and was in pain at times ages after. Both cases resolved with time.

More recently I’ve had a flesh wound. It occured January still not healed and still sore 4 months later. It has improved during that time.
