Multiple large population studies, modern and older, have shown that chronic pain rates are similar for mesh and non-mesh inguinal hernia repairs.
These are both US and European studies.
Let’s not forget that when mesh repair was invented, patients were admitted to the hospital for 1-2 weeks after their tissue repair. Pain was considered a given with the tissue repair. The invention of mesh repair was to reduce the pain by patching the hernia and thus reducing tension, which was why there was so much pain.

ModeratorSeptember 24, 2020 at 6:33 pm in reply to: Kegel Excersises – bad for inguinal herniasKegel exercises, when done correctly, should not be straining. You should be pulling up on your pelvic floor, not pushing it out. And so it should be ok with hernias.

Surgery has risks. If you had a gastric bypass or a colon resection or a gallbladder operation, they all have a long list of potential complications.
The chances of the bladder being involved in the repair is not among the commonly noted complications, but it can and does happen.
-
In some situations, the mesh either touches the bladder too closely or is intimately involved with the bladder and this can cause bladder pain, especially with full bladder, with urinary urgency. Also, sometimes, depending on the technique, the bladder is scarred over toward the hernia repair, and this can cause pain with full bladder.
In those situations, surgical release of the bladder adherence off the mesh can help.

Hear is a muscle relaxant. And it Increases blood flow to the area, which will increase the inflammatory response. Don’t use it for hernia pain. It will make the pain worse.

The company making Proflor mesh is bankrupt. I’m pretty sure the mesh is not available in the US.
