It didn’t help tje conversation was heard by me partner who already tells me about work colleague who had two mesh repairs and is all ok, it’s because a tissue repair would be quite an expense for us but I’m reluctant to contemplate mesh despite that.

MemberJanuary 25, 2023 at 1:06 pm in reply to: Watchful – FYI – this is why kang is the only option…Hello Watchful, he’d done hundreds and the pain he referred to was a patient he had to refer to pain clinic.
I forgot about the surgeon you consulted who himself had pain after surgery.
It’s a real minefield.
I was speaking to a client on Friday and said I have a hernia and can’t carry… He’d had 3, his son 3 and his brother in law 1 – all mesh repaired, all fine.

I suppose one question would be if you had to do it again or had time over would you choose Shouldice clinic or go elsewhere?

There’s inguinal mesh support group UK. And also hernia mesh hurts too which is run by someone who was damaged by mesh.
As an aside (1)
I read on there today that Johnson and Johnson have won all mesh legal cases… Is that true?As an aside (2)
A Facebook group with a list of tissue repair surgeons would be great -

MemberJanuary 24, 2023 at 11:39 pm in reply to: Watchful – FYI – this is why kang is the only option…Thats a good find Chuck, rather like a mesh register to weed out worst mesh/bad surgeons, Shouldice should do the same as some of the surgeons there sound uncaring and not the best.
Shouldice you’d think have a reputation to keep. So in their interest.
It’s a shame the blogger doesn’t say how his first hernia surgery was done or by whom.

MemberJanuary 21, 2023 at 2:06 am in reply to: How long should or could you leave a herniaAh Ive looked back and the German surgeon who hung up on Scarletville was Kurzer, Watchful.
I know Good Intentions I’m looking for a perfect success rate! Which is nigh on impossible. Such a major decision.

MemberJanuary 20, 2023 at 11:59 am in reply to: How long should or could you leave a herniaI have considered Germany and not totally ruled it out but Baris experience put me off a bit and didn’t one of the Germans treat Scarletville badly?
Which one of the three would you favour Watchful?

MemberJanuary 20, 2023 at 1:24 am in reply to: How long should or could you leave a herniaExactly the same as me Wim. I’m scared I’d be exchanging virtually no symptoms and just mild discomfort for a whole lot more. But at the same time realise it has to be done at some stage and frustrated that I can lift things I used to.
Such is the hernia dilemma.
Who would you go with?
I’m thinking Dr Kang seems the most highly regarded!

I’ll be 2 years in late August.
I have changed in as much as I dint carry much but I find that frustrating.

MemberJanuary 16, 2023 at 2:31 am in reply to: How long should or could you leave a herniaIt’s about egg size bit only half of it sticking out if you follow.
A consultant called it moderate size.
Another said it isn’t size it’s whether it’s symptomatic. -

MemberJanuary 15, 2023 at 1:39 pm in reply to: How long should or could you leave a herniaThe bulge size seems to vary. When I first get up it’s pretty small and gets a bit bigger during day. However when I carried a large liquid container it was bigger in general for about two weeks then settled back.
It isn’t really bothersome and that is the point I’m getting at, is it worth risking a virtually asymptotic hernia for surgery at the moment?

MemberJanuary 15, 2023 at 9:07 am in reply to: How long should or could you leave a herniaGood points Alephy and Watchful. Ref sizing, how can you tell how big is it? Is it size of bulge?
When just getting up from sedantary.
Or at end of day?I thought mine had got bigger for example but a consultant, by feel, said urz hardly changed.
Another said it isn’t really size it’s if it’s symptomatic and troublesome.

MemberJanuary 12, 2023 at 9:24 am in reply to: My surgeries with Dr. Kang and Shouldice HospitalI think it’s because he uses local, he can operate on wider age and weight range and even medical conditions like the cyclist who had heart problem maybe a pacemaker fitted.
Has the pain gone now Alan?

Was Dr Kang using local anaesthetic for your operation?

Thanks for the forum Dr Towfigh and happy new year to you and yours. I think everyone is happy to have such a forum and it’s invaluable to those that find it. Very grateful to you for providing it.
For the new year I was just wide if it would be possible for Dr Kang to be featured a little more as many, it seems, are considering Dr Kang surgery, myself included, and the more people know the better I’d think especially as it’s a huge decision and, for those self funding without insurance, not an inexpensive one.
Anyway, hope you have had some time off and an enjoyable time over festive season.. it looks a bit cold in USA !

It’s important that industry is held to account for wrong doing and surely this helps ensure people are kept safer and products more rigorously checked – which can only be good for patients, surgeons and manufacturers as all will be more confident in the safety and efficacy of the product.

“Sorry for the late response. I did have mine removed. Are you in the UK? I had the surgery at KIMS hospital in Maidstone. The surgeon was Mr Simon Bailey: https://www.mtw.nhs.uk/consultant/mr-simon-bailey/
He’s very open about options and no BS when it comes to most things. He’ll give you an honest assessment and help.
It was a life changer. It’s been almost a year since the surgery and I’m pretty much a normal person. I need to get back into working out again though. I used to be super fit but after three years of not being able to work out it’s been super hard to get enough energy. I’ll get there though.
Let me know if you have any questions.”
