Thanks Stephen…
What about injections for travel. Any that you’d recommend!?Also, I am a fussy eater, my partner will eat anything, but is English/American food available easily? I will try South Korean.
Thanks

Ive never really understood why recurrence is the worst thing, especially when it can be done again.
It’s not ideal and uses health resources, especially in ‘free’ systems like the NHS, but it’s got to be better than living in pain.
Put it thus way if it was a choice between a possible recurrence or possible pain which would most people choose?

Really interesting.
So right, ruining people’s lives to keep recurrence rate low is wrong. Misguided.

Glad this has been brought up… I always assumed with local you were fully awake, conscious, compus mentus (if that’s how it’s spelt) etc etc. Ie totally aware.
I did wonder how you stayed still enough.
If I have this wrong I’d appreciate clarification as I remember when I had surgery under general, when I came round they said, you don’t half wriggle. I wouldn’t want to do that with hernia repair.
I also recall that Dr Kang asks patients to cough during the procedure. Surely you need to be “with it” to do that.
I dont want to feel pain, nor risk accidental damage through movement. Is local ok for me?
My partner said you feel tugging and pulling etc but not pain as such. Is that right?

I filled in an insurance travel quote online and it gave options of 3 different cover types, including medical and repatriation cover.

I haven’t had hernia surgery but have read a lot of forums where slight aches and pain on exertion carry on for a few years, which was true in my case after my (non hernia related) surgery. It used to get tight and achy, dull pain for about 3 years.
It’s still not as supple feeling at my surgery site if I press the area but gives no trouble in that there’s no pain or ache now.

I think he’s right it’s just that I’m UK I would have to fund it myself as NHS for hernias usually just do ultrasound.

-
Oh I think ultrasound can be unreliable from what I’ve read. I think surgeons say it’s because its down to the skill.and expertise of the person doing them.
-
On imaging I don’t know but I suspect MRI or CT would be better as the NHS only do ultrasound as standard and they usually keep costings to minimum..so on a lot of complaints they start with xray, then ultrasound, then CT etc. If x-ray isn’t very revealing.
Although with hernia they do ultrasound as a start not xray

I’ve just read about a woman who had 6 repaired but with mesh.
It’s probably not much use to you, as it’s mesh, but here’s the link anyway
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5121153/
Are you in UK as USA people don’t seem to pust till later. It’s 9am UK time now
-
Oh that place in Brighton UK, believes it’s possible to cure them through exercise too
-
Have you done any exercises to see if they help?
I’m not advising you to as I’m not qualified, just wondered if you had?
I think it’s possible to reduce them through exercise, even surgeons think that, and I’m a believer that it must be possible to get rid of some completely naturally.

What hernias did the two women have Monika?
Feel very sorry about you having 4, I know how badly one affects me, outlook, anxiety, depression.
That said I’ve read of people having 3 repairs in one go..Mike had 2. So hope for everyone.
Sure I’ve read if someone who had 5 as well.
-
You’ve got it bad Monika.
I seem to recall Dr Kang has repaired femoral but can’t remember if mesh or non mesh and I can’t find it. Hopefully Dr Kang will post on here soon and see the question
