I ask as I have inguinal hernia and my tummy gurgles a lot, I have a lot of flatulence and gas.
Afaik, I dont have hiatal hernia.

Brilliant Mike M, looking forward to reading it. Thank you.
Hoping you’re not feeling too sore also.

I’m in a similar situation. Mine is not too symptomatic fortunately. I’ve waited 7 months now approximately. I think the best advice is when it interferes severely with what you want to do, pain/discomfort are too great, then you’ll know.
Some people prefer to have surgery when it’s smaller and they are younger. There would be logic in that but still no guarantee you won’t be left with pain or have a recurrence. Surgery isn’t as plain sailing as is made out, sorry to say.
Personally I wish to avoid mesh if I can. Doctors often prefer mesh as you probably know.
To get non mesh you may have to pay which is another factor.
Read some more on the forum and take a bit of time deciding. Best of luck.

The symptoms come and go in my case. Do you still have bulge? Which side is it on?
Mine is my right side and I usually lay on left side. I could try lying on the side the hernia is.
I did once read flat on back is best but I cannot sleep like that!

That’s a real pity. Very useful thread. Especially for those considering Dr Kang.
Are deleted threads not archived by the site maintainers at all?
Sorry to say I dont have a copy. For selfish reasons it would be good to see it back if possible.

There was someone on here who had pain after removal and who may benefit from trying some of the less traditional relief methods.
Can’t remember posters name, sadly.

I’ve found that documentary on medical implants on Netflix, think it started with knees and a surgeon who found there were issues. Think I’ll watch that..The only thing putting me off is I’m squeamish.

Pawlak – a new surgeon worth following (and hoping for)Thanks Good Intentions, I think I may have mentioned before that I just don’t have your intellectual capabilities, sorry to say. If it’s not too much trouble, could you put in simpler terms what Dr Pawlak means. Thank you in advance.
I’m hoping that more NHS surgeons are learning tissue repair. If you look at Dr Pawlak and Dr Light, both NHS, both doing a limited number of tissue repairs alongside mesh on NHS. Both young. Much younger than most consultants I’ve seen.

Anyway just to confirm, certain patients in UK can ask NHS to refer them to Dr Pawlak for appraisal and possible non mesh repair.
Thats 2 NHS surgeons who do non mesh now.

Based in north Devon, Barnstaple.
Website also mentions chronic pain management I believe.

MemberMarch 15, 2022 at 10:44 am in reply to: Good article re removal, complications, reason mesh became the “standard”When it works it works well but when it goes wrong it’s absolute hell.
But there is more to it than recurrence rate, it’s also easier to learn and do. So time and money saving.
Those are the reasons it’s being used plus it’s a money spinner.
All the ‘pros’ about hernia mesh would have been the same for vaginal mesh. Eventually the ‘cons’, or risk of them, outweighed the ‘pros’ and it was banned. Suspect same will happen with hernia mesh.
Used in needed cases not as norm.

Good luck. When you feel up to it, please try and update us as there are several prospective Dr Kang patients on here. Including me!
Hope all goes well!

Just to be clear, the gurgling I have is quite a distance from the hernia. Is that still a sign it might be incarcerated? Or does it have to be where hernia is?

….“From what i know, Dr Kang uses pds suture which are slow absorbable (130-180 days to fully absorb)
I am a korean american looking to get dr kang’s surgery once the pandemic ends. I will probably update once i get one. However, there is a story written by a korean woman on her blog about her experience with the surgery. She became pregnant 1 year after surgery and gave birth through c-section. According to her, her hernia did not reoccur even after holding a baby inside her.
Do what you will with that info”.It may be best to her pregnant after. Quite a time after. But maybe Dr Towfigh may give a more qualified answer.

How I got hernia I’ll never know.

Yes that’s the thing with Dr. Kang, lack of reviews etc. As has been said the figures could be plucked from thin air for all anyone knows. Pinto’s experience is a worry. Hope Dr Kang helps Pinto. On the other hand Dr Kang seems honest and there are several endorsements on here from patients.
Ref Americans Chuck there was the cyclist, think he was America. Jack Wilkerson or similar name. Google and you’ll find it..he had heart problem too but Dr Kang operated. Good result
